Jacob’s City
Driving Directions: From Stockton Utah: Stockton is located just south of Tooele via highway 36. Once you reach Stockton look for the sign that says City Hall. Travel up this road for 2.1 miles and you will reach the dirt road that takes you to the city. Remember to stay on the main road as both sides of the road are marked No Trespassing. This road is very narrow and steep, 4X4 or ATV’s are recommend. From Ophir Canyon: Travel on highway 36 south out of Stockton to the highway 73 junction. Turn east on highway 73. When the road nears the mountains, you will see a sign showing the turn-off for Ophir. Once you turn off and start heading to Ophir you will see a nerve gas detector and a dirt road. This dirt road will take you to the mouth of the hidden canyon that Jacob City is located in. This is the shortest route and provides plenty of room to unload your ATV’s. The Jacob City Loop has spectacular views of the Oquirrh Mountains and Rush Valley. If your main objective is to get to Jacob City, an abandoned mine and mining town, head southeast from the trailhead. The trail heading southeast is smooth and gently slopes upwards towards Jacob City. Before ascending up to Commodore Pass, descend down to Jacob City and explore the remnants of a once thriving mining town. If you want to complete the entire loop, we recommend heading west from the trail-head and then turn east to ride up Soldier Canyon. If you still have the energy, explore Soldier Canyon. Where the road ends, continue on foot to witness stunning views of the canyon, creek, and waterfalls below. The trail to Jacob City is one of our favorite rides
