Trail Description: Sand Hollow Riding Area and State Park (also known as Sand Mountain or Hurricane Dunes) has over 16,000 acres of red sand dunes open to ATV riding. The area has a new reservoir called Sand Hollow with modern campgrounds and picnic areas adjacent to the beaches. Sand Hollow offers some incredible views of red rock formations, beautiful mountains, and red sand dunes. It’s quickly becoming a favorite playground for Utah ATV riders and boaters alike. This is a really fun place to take the family for the day or weekend with plenty of entertainment for all ages. There are also some great red rock trails on the edge of the dunes. Sand Hollow is approximately 15 miles east of St. George, and seven miles east of the I-15 Hurricane Exit. Take exit 16 (SR 9), travel east four miles and turn right on Turf Sod Road, travel one mile and turn left on the new Sand Hollow access road for two miles, turn left and proceed to the park. The OHV Staging Area can access the trail system through a tunnel under SR 9.
Sand Pit Campground offers 30 sites including 5 with water and electric and 5 group sites.
